     "People who eat red meat every day have a higher risk of dying over a 10-year period -- mostly because of cardiovascular disease or cancer --than their peers who eat less red or processed meat, according to a new study of about half a million people."

Don't Top Trees! - Tips for Homeowners

You may ask yourself, What is Tree Topping?
Tree topping is basically cutting off the tree's branches to stubs that are not large enough to sustain a good healthy growth. Some possible reasons for tree toppings are: tall trees poses a hazard, trees that interfere with views or satellites, or even into utility lines. Truth is that if you tree top, it will make the tree even more hazardous in the long run.
 
Some reasons why tree topping damage trees themselves:

  • If the Tree has become a disaster to look at, it will lower your property value which will cost more just to remove it.
  • Topping the tree will not control the height or spread of the tree, but instead it will cause rapid growth of new branches.
  • Topping the tree causes stubbed limbs that produce new branches with weak attachments that may be more liable to break.
  • Many trees cannot handle the shock of tree topping and will be susceptible to diseases.
  • The exposed limbs are more susceptible to diseases and insects.
  • Once a tree is is topped its true shape is lost and the tree will never look the same...
